Sparking childhood literacy in Yavapai County
We are so very sad to share the passing of our program’s founder Dolly Parton on August, 25, 2026 at the age of 80. Her work to ensure that children have access to books has been a gift to families around the world.
We are so thankful that her family and estate have plans in place to continue her work and embrace her legacy.
Here at the Imagination Library of the Prescott Area, we will do our best to continue her great work of increasing childhood literacy by getting books in the hands of children throughout Yavapai County.
ILPA is a local affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, serving families living in Yavapai County, Arizona.
Provides books at no cost to children from the age of 0-5 by mailing a book to their home every month.
Families with children between the ages of 0 and 5, residing in Yavapai County, AZ.
Years of research and dozens of studies point to the same thing: reading to children from the time they are born is critical to literacy development and academic success. Research shows that access to high quality children’s literature has a tremendous impact on children’s early literacy development, which in turn impacts their overall school success in subsequent years. The books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library encourage parent involvement and create a home library to help engage parents and children in reading together.
